archives: Korean DMZ

One of the most heavily armed border in the world, the Korean Demilitarised Zone,

dividing North Korea and South Korea is saturated with razor wire, watchtowers, landmines, heavy weaponry and tanktraps. The DMZ is a cease-fire line 248 km long and 4km wide running from the East Sea to the

Yellow Sea. Within the DMZ, the Joint Security Area is the only place where

both Koreas connect. North Korean soldiers and South Korean soldiers partnered with American soldiers patrol the area. The MilitaryDemarcation Line runs along the DMZ and at the Joint Security Area it runs through the buildings, through a conference room and right down the middle of the conference tables where the North Koreans and the United Nations Command, primarily South Koreans and Americans meet face to face.
